Unveiling the Myer Marquee

The Melbourne Cup Carnival’s most stylish spot is without a doubt the Myer Marquee in the exclusive Birdcage Enclosure. From the beautiful illustrations adorning the walls to the teeny tiny colourful meringues in the secret sweets cupboard, there are little wonders to be discovered everywhere. Take a look inside…

the theme

Inspired by our new brand position ‘find wonderful’, this year’s Myer Marquee features a whimsical display of fashion, art and design which guests will discover throughout the day. The marquee was designed by the team at Gloss Creative and features amazing displays of coloured orchids by Fleur Florist in Armadale.

The marquee’s colour palette pays tribute to our talented designers, with Spring Summer collection shades such as ‘Alex Perry Yellow’ and ‘by johnny Pink’ dotted throughout. Huge illustrations by renowned artist Cat McLeod, whose designs are featured in our ‘find wonderful’ brand film, decorate the white walls.

the food

Melbourne’s most renowned caterer, The Big Group, created a menu full of spring’s freshest flavours. Standouts include a summer citrus salad, exploding pineapple and coconut paddle pops and beef burgers on charcoal buns. For guests after something a little sweeter, we’ll be opening the ultimate cake cabinet at 3.30pm each day to reveal ‘Edible Happiness’ –  sugar overloads form Melbourne’s newest and coolest sweet and cake makers including Nectar and Stone and Burch & Purchese.

the drinks

Aside from the 5,000 glasses of G.H.Mumm champagne being served in gorgeous Waterford Crystal flutes, guests will be treated to delicious cocktails including Cucumber Seltzer Gin Fizz and Dark and Stormy infused rum!

the special surprise

The final wonder for the day is the Myer Perfumery, which will be unveiled at 4:30pm each day. Guests will be treated to a pop-up fragrance station where they’ll take part in a sensory experience and be given a sweet scent to take home as a reminder of their day in the wonderful Myer Marquee.
