How to: Dress for the Festive Season

The fun festive season is in full swing, which no doubt means your social calendar is jam packed and you need a multitude of outfits for all those end of year parties you’ve been invited to! From Christmas barbeques with friends to end of year work functions to News Year’s Eve celebrations, December is all about party dressing. This is our guide for styling the perfect look to suit your night (or day) out.

the beach barbeque

Catching up with friends and family for a beach or poolside barbeque over the festive season calls for something a little more casual and definitely more comfortable. We love this gorgeous Little Joe Woman dress worn over a bikini (you’ll most likely be taking dip at some point during the day) for that relaxed, beachy vibe. Add a big tote for carrying your towel and gifts, and some easy casual slides, fun sunglasses and a large fedora to perfectly finish off this look.

the cocktail party

Up the ante for your next cocktail party in a slick, easy-wear dress with an interesting pop of unexpected colour. We love this emerald green halter neck dress by Yeojin Bae, as the high neckline and low back inject some serious sexy into this sophisticated look. Worn with these amazing magenta Rupert Sanderson heels, this look is definitely attention grabbing but also really fun. Add this great little Kenzo clutch to the ensemble and try some loose waves in your hair to balance your sleek attire with a sultry vibe.

christmas day

To celebrate Christmas Day with your nearest and dearest this year, immerse yourself in feminine glam and try something a little more traditional. Maticevski’s ‘Araknia’ Cocktail Dress has a beautiful classic A line shape (flattering for all figures) and when paired back with these ‘staple item’ Marc by Marc Jacobs heels your look is almost there. Bring in a mid-sized coloured bag to break up the monochrome, add a lick of red lipstick and your Christmas Day look is perfected.

new year’s eve

For the party of the year, go for all-out glam! Fun and flirty, this lace halter dress by Alex Perry has New Year’s Eve written all over it and when worn with these incredible Balmain boots, it’s all about the legs! Slip on some shimmering instant bronzer to make your pins look amazing and keep your hands free by opting for a chain-strap clutch that’s just big enough to fit your night-out essentials: phone, wallet, keys and of course, your lipgloss!
