Clashing prints and modern proportions take centre stage in ‘The Dance of Fibonacci’, sass & bide’s Autumn Winter collection. Trademark layering and draping feature throughout the collection while oversized zips, strappings and elastic trims are utilised in a new way to enhance the female form.
Despite the departure of founding designers Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton in July of 2014, this season’s collection is as strong as ever and explores form and shape with distinct combinations of fabric and texture. Amidst a predominantly neutral colour palette of black and white, moments of striking red and emerald green set a dramatic tone for the entire collection.
We caught up with the sass & bide design team to find out more:
Myer: Tell us about the new collection…
Sass & Bide: The Dance of Fibonacci is an unfolding journey into new territory, where strength and femininity is counterbalanced with a spirit of modernity and monastic minimalism. The collection is an exploration of form and shape, revelling in distinct combinations of fabrics and texture. True to the sass & bide aesthetic, silhouettes are layered and draped in a tribute to movement and fluidity.
M: What themes and techniques have you featured this season?
S&B: Throughout the season, a black and ivory colour palette is prominent with reflective metals an highlights of emerald and pop red. Unexpected adornments and unique finishes such as oversized zips, strappings and elastic trimmings highlight the feminine form.
M: What is one key piece from this new collection that is an absolute must have?
S&B: The Lupa Dress! A stunning emerald green dress with a soft structured boned bodice wrap. Wrap and tie up for a formal cinched-in look or leave long and loose to dress it down. You can also pair it with jeans for a daytime, casual mood. Wear as you wish!
