Focus On: Ellery

Drawing inspiration from the abstract forms created by avant-garde artist Jean Arp, Ellery’s new season collection is a celebration of texture and tailoring and features some of the label’s trademark shapes which have been given new life through fresh fabrications and deliberate draping. Focused on strength of shape, Kym Ellery has produced yet another stellar collection that has us wanting each and every piece.

Volume has always been an area that Kym Ellery has been interested in, however in this collection she has taken a more restrained approach to her sculptural shapes, offering longer leaner silhouettes emphasised by impeccable tailoring. Beautifully cut pants feature prominently and offer a much needed new option for evening and formal wear, while tops provide the signature airy and voluminous feel that is quintessentially Ellery. Longline dresses in rich silks and deep shades of charcoal loosely skim the body with perfectly placed draping that emphasises the female form.

A rich winter palette of nude, forest green and charcoal sees Ellery shy away from prints, opting instead for texture with classic crisp shirting and silk satin providing hero staple pieces, while webbed lace, organza and pebbled leather give interest and shape to more experimental and dramatic pieces.

Stunningly simple and creatively forward, this collection has all your new season statement shapes in garments that will live on forever in your wardrobe and become you most loved pieces.

  1. Kym Ellery believes in using fur in her designs. She’s outdated, and not in touch with what women like and respect in designs. Modern women avoid her label, choosing stores and couture that reflects what women now choose to wear – ethically sourced and morally made. Kym unfortunately is out of touch and her label will fortunately be left out of many stores when the penny drops there is more money and smarts in designers that listen to their market and their conscious.
