Myer: What were your thoughts about the sass & bide prior to joining the company?
Therese Rawsthorne: I’ve followed sass & bide since the beginnings of the brand and really loved the creativity and spirit it encapsulates. It has always stood not just for great clothes but beyond that with the culture that it created.

M: What was the first sass & bide piece you owned?
TR: A beautiful hand beaded top.

M: Coming into an iconic brand like sass & bide, how do you balance the need to maintain the label’s heritage while also trying to bring in your own creative ideas?
TR: There’s so much rich heritage at sass & bide, it’s very inspiring! My focus is to evolve the brand whilst embracing the spirit and essence of the brand. It’s a consciousness of the elements that made the brand great and staying true to that spirit. Artful prints, beautiful embellishments and awesome denim are a part of that.

M: Given your years of experience in the fashion industry, how do you feel about the impact of social media on the space?
TR: Social media is great, it’s made it so much easier for brands to interact with their customers, see what they love and for each to inspire the other. It’s really brought customers and brands closer together.

M: What advice would you give to anyone wanting to make it in the world of fashion design?
TR: Have a point of view, listen, look & follow your dreams!

M: What’s next for sass & bide?
TR: At the moment we are really looking forward to Amante Amore dropping in store and spreading the sass & bide love!

  1. Within the last month I purchased a pair of ankle boots from Tea Tree Plaza South Australia. Unfortunately I do not have a receipt but I do have the box they came in. Can I return them as in wet weather they leak!

    • Hi Kym, the best thing to do would be to head back into your local store with your boots and discuss the concern about the leaking issue with a team member who will be able to help you further.
Thanks and have a lovely week.
