Industrie has been mainstay in the Australian Menswear market for over fifteen years and this week we welcome Industrie back into Myer stores. We caught up with their Managing Director Nick Kelly to find out how the brand has evolved over the last decade.
Myer: How has Industrie changed and evolved since beginning in 1999?
Nick Kelly: From humble beginnings in East Sydney, Industrie has gone from a 2 store, predominantly wholesale, operation in 1999 to over 250 points of sale. Industrie was founded on the vision to deliver quality, affordable, masculine, fashion focused designs to the Australian market place and 17 years on we strive to maintain this original vision. In 2007 Industrie created its first line of kids clothing, Indie Kids. So in 17 short years Industrie has grown to become one of the most recognised menswear brands in the country delivering over 3 million garments a year. We are excited to be back in the Myer space.
M: How would you describe the Industrie man?
NK: Youth minded, style driven, price conscious, quality focused and modern.
M: What key trend do you see coming through for summer?
NK: We are less about following one key trend, and more about delivering a multitude of garments and looks to satisfy every man’s needs. Industrie covers all bases from classic basics to the latest fashion items, adopting global trends with a distinctly Australian influence.
M: What is your one must have Industrie piece this season?
NK: You can’t go wrong with a pair of classic printed trunks and a light weight linen shirt.
M: What can we expect to see from Industrie in the new season?
NK: Products to suit everyone’s needs with the Industrie style & quality we have become known for.
Industrie is now available at Myer Melbourne, Bondi, Macquarie and Knox, and will be rolling out to more Myer stores over the coming weeks.
