Established in 1996, Bardot was inspired by the need for women to stay ahead of the fashion curve. Bardot’s Founder & Creative Director Carol Skoufis says that for women these days, fashion is all about making them feeling confident & empowered…
Myer: Tell us about how Bardot was formed?
Carol Skoufis: There is a saying I love “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. So, in ’96, when I returned home from overseas with no job, no car and no place to live; I dared to dream. I sold my wardrobe and started a label that would stand the test of time.
M: What inspires you?
CS: I am powered by creativity and energy and I am inspired by many things – international travel and culture are a big focus for me.
M: In your view, what does the everyday Australian girl want from her fashion these days?
CS: She wants to stay ahead of the fashion curve. She looks for top of the moment seasonal trends and is dedicated to fashion with a bespoke point of view. In short, she wants to feel confident and empowered!
M: Tell us about the trends you’re loving this season.
CS: The Bomber – It’s impossible to talk about this season and not mention the hottest of-the-moment outerwear piece. It makes for an effortless and sporty chic look. Also anything Off-the-shoulder – This Spring it’s about baring your shoulders and shrugging off your sleeves. Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are the new breed of sexy with a touch of chic.
M: What does it mean to you to be Young & Free?
CS: Life is about getting out there. Live a little dangerously as it’s important to be fun, bold and expressive!
M: What are your 3 must-have pieces for Spring?
CS: The Solange Dress, the Flight Control Bomber and the Paloma Stripe Top.
