With over two decades experience in the fashion industry between them, designers Amber D’Enett & Georgia Mitchell saw a gaping hole in the market which led to the birth of their label, Vale. Focused solely on creating timeless and high quality pieces without the faddish finish, Amber and Georgia certainly know which pieces women want in their wardrobes and that’s exactly what they’re aiming to give them! We had a chat with Amber to discover more about one of our favourite new brands…
Myer: Tell us a bit about yourselves and your background?
Amber D’Enett: Vale is the sum of two parts – Amber D’Enett and Georgia Mitchell. Amber has had over 10 years experience in sales & marketing and Georgia comes from a background in production. Our skills complement each other perfectly, and this, combined with a shared vision, is how Vale was born.
Myer: What made you both passionate about creating Vale?
AD: We created Vale because of what we saw was missing from the market – that perfect buttery white tee, those softly worn in denim jeans, the timeless shift day dress – classic pieces of clothing at realistic price points in beautiful, natural materials. As well as a directional fashion element which we could never find like exaggerated frayed denim.
M: How would you describe the ethos of the brand and what sets Vale apart from other labels?
AD: Vale should be worn by a girl, not the other way around. We want Vale pieces to be those trustworthy, fail-safe and most loved pieces in your wardrobe – sturdy, classic, loyal pieces you wear to death. Life is for living, not for worrying about what to wear!
M: Who is the Vale girl?
AD: The Vale girl is spirited but sophisticated. She is a natural beauty with tomboyish traits. We have a rolodex of muses from Sloane Peterson (Ferris Buller’s girl) to French ingenue Marine Vacth. The French girls definitely rule our rolodex!
M: What is the inspiration for this current collection?
AD: The new release of Mad Max for sure. Sandy desert and dunes. All aspects of the Australian landscape.
M: What can we expect to see form Vale moving forward?
AD: Blue jeans, baby! It’s the universal cloth! Denim will always be at our core – lived-in, loved-in, well-worn classic styles with a certain subtle Vale twist.
M: What is the number one must have piece from this collection?
AD: The Grassy Dress in Dark Denim is a winner!
